چکیده

Terminology in classification of pancreatograms was discussed at a recent international workshop on chronic pancreatitis. A new terminology based on morphological radiographic appearances and a new classification to describe the severity and localisation of pancreatogram changes were agreed. Pancreatograms in chronic pancreatitis are graded as normal or equivocal, or as showing mild, moderate, or marked changes, either diffuse or local. It is hoped that these definitions will help communication between centres, serve as a basis for prospective and comparative studies, and facilitate computerisation.

Comparison of the oral (PABA) pancreatic function test, the secretin-pancreozymin test and endoscopic retrograde pancreatography in chronic alcohol induced pancreatitis.

The oral (PABA) pancreatic function test (PFT), the secretin-pancreozymin test and endoscopic retrograde pancreatography (ERCP) have been carried out in 32 patients with suspected chronic alcohol induced pancreatitis (CAIP) in order to evaluate which, if any, test was most likely to confirm the provisional diagnosis. Thirty one patients had changes of minimal (n = 6) moderate (n = 7) or advance...

Comparison of pancreatic morphology and exocrine functional impairment in patients with chronic pancreatitis.

A comparative analysis of pancreatic morphology and exocrine function was performed prospectively in 48 patients. All patients had transabdominal ultrasound, computed tomography, endoscopic retrograde pancreatography, and a secretin-caerulein test. Classification of ultrasound, computed tomography, and pancreatogram findings was based on the Cambridge classification. In 10 patients, no pancreat...

EUS and chronic pancreatitis.

EUS provides unique information on pancreatic morphology, but the clinical value of EUS in managing patients with suspected or proven chronic pancreatitis remains controversial. The overriding concern appears to be that widespread application of EUS will result in overdiagnosis of chronic pancreatitis in the general population. Clearly, further work is required to clarify the clinical implicati...
